Introduction

About Dimensional Plaza

Dimensional Plaza is a nine-story Class A office building that opened in April 2019. The building was designed by Turan Dude of Duda|Paine Architects. Turan has worked closely with Dimensional for over 10 years and designed our Austin, TX headquarters. The building design emerged from a master planning and community engagement process that focused on bringing new life and activity to the many residents of South End.

Dimensional Plaza is located in Charlotte’s historic South End neighborhood and occupies an entire downtown city block at Tryon Street and Camden Road with 270,000 square feet of office and retail space. An adjacent integrated parking deck provides space for over 650 cars on seven levels, including two below grade.

The edifice is clad with a glazed aluminum curtain wall featuring curved glass, custom perforated metal, and custom color metal panels. The building’s base reflects the triangular building site and is set back at street level to allow for public space at each of its three corners. The tower transformed an undeveloped site and delivered a mix of ground-floor retail, conference space, full dining facilities and office space.

Dimensional Plaza earned LEED Gold in 2019.

Green Building Highlights Sustainable Site:

A vast terrace tops a parking desk and portions of conference and prefunction space. The terrace required strategic design team coordination for its bollard-lit walkways, covered and uncovered dining areas with custom-shaped concrete, seating areas, maturing trees in recessed tree pits, landscaping, and synthetic turf.

Water Efficiency:

With two levels of below-grade parking and high-water table, a permanent dewatering system was required to capture, treat, and discharge the groundwater within the site. Sustainable strategies include capturing, treating, and reusing the water for cooling tower makeup prior to discharge, reducing the amount of overall water consumption.
